How Amazon prices are handled
Amazon.ca may appear only in the Current lowest price column. When it does, the value is the lowest qualifying new, in-stock Amazon.ca offer returned by Amazon’s Creators API for that configuration at the stated daily refresh time. Amazon prices are not retained beyond 24 hours or stored in history or data files, and they are never used in charts, trends, forecasts, sparklines, Black Friday calculations, downloads, or alerts; this site does not offer price alerts or notifications.
Today’s lowest price is CA$59.99 for the CANON PIXMA MG2525 Multifunction Color Inkjet Printer at Canada Computers.

Black Friday printer prices in Canada: the price to beat
Black Friday is November 27, 2026, and Cyber Monday is November 30. A sale badge compares against the retailer’s own regular price, which may rarely be charged. This table uses what we actually recorded over the last 60 days at the tracked Canadian retailers: the lowest in-stock price and the typical (median) daily price. If a sale price lands at or below the price to beat, it is a real deal. If it is not clearly below the typical price, it is not a real discount. The verdict column switches on during Black Friday week.
| Configuration | Price to beat (pre-sale low) | Typical price | Today, non-Amazon retailers |
|---|---|---|---|
| Monochrome laser printer | CA$99.99 Oct 4, Staples Canada | CA$99.99 | CA$99.99 |
| Monochrome laser all-in-one | CA$129.00 Oct 17, Staples Canada | CA$129.99 | CA$129.00 |
| Colour laser printer | CA$309.99 Oct 4, Staples Canada | CA$329.99 | CA$329.99 |
| Inkjet all-in-one (cartridge) | CA$54.99 Oct 18, Best Buy Canada | CA$59.99 | CA$59.99 |
| Ink-tank printer (EcoTank, MegaTank, Smart Tank) | CA$199.99 Oct 4, Best Buy Canada | CA$199.99 | CA$229.99 |
Every value and verdict in this table excludes Amazon. The price to beat is the lowest in-stock price we recorded on at least two separate days, so a one-day blip does not set the bar. Until the baseline freezes on October 31, a lower in-stock price today becomes the new price to beat. Typical price is the median of each day’s lowest in-stock price. Configurations with fewer than 14 days of history are left out, except recently added models, which are shown with a labelled short baseline of at least 10 days. Older archive prices with unverified stock appear in the price history but never in the price to beat.

Observed history and forecasts use qualifying prices from the named non-Amazon retailers only. Missing dates are not estimated. Forecasts are model estimates, not observed retailer prices. Hover with a mouse to inspect an observed date. Touch scrolling remains enabled.
Best Buy archive points before October 3, 2026 are recorded listing prices; historical online stock was not always confirmed. From October 3 onward, the tracker records the lowest verified in-stock price found across participating retailers. Blank periods mean no exact qualifying observation was found. Connecting lines are visual guides, not estimated prices.
Methodology
The tracker checks five Canadian retailers once a day. These stores are Best Buy Canada, Canada Computers, Newegg Canada, Staples Canada, and Amazon. It looks for the cheapest new in stock printer in five specific categories. Monochrome laser printers, monochrome laser all in ones, colour laser printers, cartridge inkjet all in ones, and ink tank printers are included. Refurbished, open box, and used units are excluded. Staples listings must have affirmative delivery inventory for the Toronto reference postal area. Amazon prices join the daily comparison but do not enter the long term history. Amazon can only be listed as the lowest price if it beats at least one other store’s current offer. Placeholder listings are rejected to ensure accuracy. Historical Best Buy listing prices from before this tracker launched are included when they meet the same category rules; older archive rows do not always confirm online stock. Memory Express observations collected before the retailer change remain in history but are no longer sampled.
Retailer search pages can fail, change, or omit a model on any given run. A listing is accepted only when the retailer also provides an affirmative in-stock or enabled add-to-cart signal. Missing retailers and configurations are never estimated, and a same-day rerun replaces the current rows instead of carrying an earlier sample forward. We store the median of the three lowest-cost matches for auditing, while the chart and table use the lowest-cost currently verified in-stock listing.
Choosing the Right Type
The cheapest printer to buy is often not the cheapest to run. Cartridge inkjets cost less up front but use expensive cartridges. Ink tank printers cost more initially but use cheap refillable bottles. If you mostly print text and do not print often, a monochrome laser is a good choice. Toner does not dry out, so you can use it months later without issues. Consider your printing habits before choosing the lowest sticker price.
Frequently Asked Questions
What types of printers do you track?
We track five types: monochrome laser, monochrome laser all in one, colour laser, cartridge inkjet all in one, and ink tank printers.
Do you include refurbished or used printers?
No. We only track new in stock units. Refurbished, open box, and used items are excluded.
Why is Amazon sometimes not the lowest price?
Amazon prices are part of the daily comparison but not the long term history. Amazon can only be the lowest if it beats at least one other store.
Is the cheapest printer always the best value?
Not always. Cheap cartridge inkjets can be expensive to run. Ink tanks cost more up front but have lower running costs.
