This calculator does not include vehicle depreciation (roughly $0.10-0.20 per km for most cars), vehicle insurance premium increases for higher annual mileage, or the cost of your time spent commuting. Commute cost worked example
Suppose you go to the office three days a week, travel 40 km round trip, spend $14 per 100 km on fuel, pay $15 per day for parking or transit, and spend $11 more on lunch than you would at home. Add $50 a month for work clothes and dry cleaning. Using 50 work weeks, the calculator estimates $5,340 a year, $445 a month, or about $36 per office day.
