How this mouse DPI test works
Enter a longer measured distance such as 10 centimetres, align the mouse with a ruler mark, start the test, move exactly that far to the right, and press Enter. Repeat at least three times and average stable results.
How to read the results
The estimate is horizontal movement counts divided by inches travelled. Raw pointer input is requested where the browser supports it. Standard pointer lock may still include operating-system scaling or acceleration.
Common causes of failed tests
Results vary with ruler error, diagonal movement, acceleration, angle snapping, browser support, wireless instability, sensor surface, and DPI profile switching.
Troubleshooting before you replace hardware
Use a longer distance, move straight and slowly, disable acceleration, confirm the active mouse profile, and repeat. Treat the result as an estimate rather than laboratory calibration.
