What to do with this number
If the number is 0–1 inch, your monitor is already at the right height on a standard stand. You may not need anything.
If the number is 1–4 inches, a monitor riser or stand in that height range will fix it. A stack of books works while you figure out the right product.
If the number is 4+ inches, a monitor arm with height adjustment will give you more flexibility than a fixed-height riser.
If the number is negative, your desk is unusually high relative to your seated eye height. Raising your chair (and adding a footrest if needed) may help before spending on a riser.
