Our automated daily retailer sampling begins July 13, 2026. Every plotted point comes from our own qualifying retailer checks. Blank periods mean no exact qualifying observation was found. Connecting lines are visual guides, not estimated prices.

Methodology

Once a day, we query the public product search at Best Buy Canada, Canada Computers, Newegg Canada, and Memory Express for each configuration and record the lowest in-stock price among matching desktop kits at each retailer. Amazon.ca is also checked for internal comparison, but its scraped prices are not published; qualifying Amazon product links remain available as link-only destinations. A listing is accepted only when the retailer also provides an affirmative in-stock or enabled add-to-cart signal. The current table and circle markers show the lowest successful retailer sample from the current run; same-day reruns replace current rows instead of carrying an earlier sample forward. The 7-day sparkline uses the last seven calendar days ending on the current update date. Each line point is the minimum qualifying public price across the retailers available for that configuration on that date. Dates with no observation are skipped, and the line connects the available points across the gap without estimating or interpolating a missing price. The signed percentage is stricter: it compares the first and last available dates using only retailers present at both endpoints, and only when the same retailer listing ID is present at both endpoints. If that matched basket is empty, the table says "coverage changed" instead of publishing a percentage. Retailer coverage expanded on July 24, 2026, so any trend spanning that date is computed only from this consistent subset. Listings for prebuilt PCs, laptop memory, single modules, and server ECC memory are filtered out. Accepted multi-module layouts must add up to the tracked capacity, including common four-module layouts for larger kits. "Lowest" means the single cheapest qualifying listing from the currently included retailer feeds. Best Buy prices reflect only first-party Best Buy listings: Marketplace offers are excluded using Best Buy's product API. Listings identified as refurbished, renewed, open-box, or used are also excluded. We record the median of the three cheapest listings internally, apply capacity-aware price bounds, and reject a lone extreme low that is far below the other cheapest matches. Retailer failures, missing configurations, and missing dates are skipped rather than estimated.

Why we track this

RAM prices in 2026 have been anything but stable. Our analysis of the surge, and whether you should buy now or wait, lives in RAM Prices in 2026: Buy Now or Wait It Out? This tracker is the living data source behind that question. If you are speccing a new machine, compare the rest of the build with our GPU prices tracker for Canada and cheapest SSD prices in Canada. Our first computer guide and home office budget calculator put the full budget in context.

Canadian RAM price questions

Where is RAM cheapest in Canada?

The answer changes with retailer sales and kit capacity. This page checks four Canadian price-publishing stores daily. The two hero cards show the current price-per-GB leaders for DDR4 and DDR5, while the table reports the in-stock result for each tracked desktop kit.

Are DDR5 RAM prices going down?

Use the DDR5 lines in the chart to compare the same capacity across collection dates. Several lower daily observations are better evidence than one short promotion.

Is DDR4 still cheaper than DDR5 in Canada?

Compare equal capacities in the current table. DDR4 can cost less, but motherboard compatibility matters and the cheapest kit is not automatically the right upgrade.

Does this RAM tracker include laptop memory?

No. It tracks standard desktop DIMM kits only. Laptop SODIMMs, server ECC memory, single modules, prebuilts, used products, and open-box listings are excluded.
