How to Use This Template
- Set your annual reading goal at the top before filling anything else in. Make it slightly ambitious but realistic based on last year.
- Add a book to the Currently Reading section as soon as you start it, not when you finish. This makes the tracker feel active, not retrospective.
- Rate every book honestly when you finish. Reserve 5 stars for life-changing reads. Grade inflation makes the ratings useless.
- Add books to the Want to Read list as you hear about them through podcasts, recommendations, or articles. The list is only useful if it is current.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I decide what to read next?
Use the Priority column in the Want to Read section. Mark H (high), M (medium), or L (low) next to each title so you always know what to pick up next.
Can I track audiobooks and ebooks too?
Yes. Use the Genre column to note the format (audiobook, ebook, print) if you want to track your reading habits across formats.
What if I read more than 16 books in a year?
Print a second copy and continue your log. Label each sheet with the date range so you can keep them in order.
Is this book tracker free?
Yes, completely free. No email required. Print as many copies as you need for personal use.
