Body Fat Percentage Calculator (Navy Method)
The US Navy body fat formula estimates body fat percentage from simple circumference measurements. It is more accurate than BMI because it accounts for waist and neck size — a better proxy for actual fat distribution than weight alone. You do not need calipers or a DEXA scan to get a reasonable estimate.
Body Fat Calculator — Navy Method
Use a tape measure to estimate your body fat percentage.
Take measurements in the morning before eating, with the tape snug but not compressing skin. For waist, measure at the narrowest point (usually just above the belly button). For neck, measure just below the larynx. Consistency in measurement technique matters more than the exact measurement — measure the same way every time for reliable trend tracking.
