How this color screen works
Choose a swatch, open fullscreen, and scan the display at a normal viewing angle. Move through light, dark, saturated, and neutral colors because different defects and reflections appear on different backgrounds.
How to read the results
Solid colors can reveal dust, smears, stuck or dead subpixels, backlight bleed, color tint, and broad uniformity differences. They do not calibrate the panel or determine whether a result meets a manufacturer’s tolerance.
Common causes of failed tests
Visible differences may come from the panel, backlight, viewing angle, local dimming, coating, room reflections, image retention, or surface contamination. A single screenshot cannot capture all of those effects.
Troubleshooting before you replace hardware
Clean only according to the manufacturer, reduce reflections, compare multiple colors, and photograph any repeatable defect during the return or warranty period. Use the dead pixel test for a methodical pixel scan.
