Grey screen: This grey screen provides a clean fullscreen grey field for display inspection, lighting, photography, tracing, cleaning checks, or a distraction-free background. It runs locally in the browser.

How this grey screen works

Select Grey or another solid color, choose Open full screen, and press Escape when finished. For cleaning, turn the display off and follow the manufacturer’s method rather than wiping an illuminated panel.

How to read the results

A solid field makes dust, smears, isolated pixel defects, glow, discoloration, and uneven areas easier to notice. It is a viewing aid, not a calibrated color, brightness, or uniformity measurement.

Common causes of failed tests

Uneven areas can come from fingerprints, reflections, viewing angle, panel coating, backlight construction, pressure damage, stuck pixels, dead pixels, or image retention. Comparing several colors helps separate a fixed defect from content.

Troubleshooting before you replace hardware

Reduce room reflections, view the panel straight on, compare several colors, and use the dedicated dead pixel test for a structured scan. If fullscreen is blocked, click the page and try again.

For setup and buying context, see the color screen hub, white screen, black screen, pink screen, red screen, purple screen, orange screen, grey screen, and dead pixel test.
