Left right speaker test: This left right speaker test sends a generated tone to the left channel, right channel, or both so you can verify physical speaker placement and stereo routing.
How this left right speaker test works
Set volume low, select Play left, and confirm only the left speaker or earcup responds. Repeat with Play right, then Play both. Use a moderate sine tone such as 440 Hz for the clearest routing check.
How to read the results
Left should come from the physical left side and right from the physical right side. Both should sound centered when speakers, balance, distance, and gain are matched. This is a routing check, not a calibrated loudness comparison.
Common causes of failed tests
Reversed channels can come from crossed cables, rotated headphones, interface routing, receiver wiring, or software channel mapping. One quiet side can involve balance settings, a loose connector, amplifier gain, or damaged hardware.
Troubleshooting before you replace hardware
Check system balance and mono-audio settings, reseat cables, swap the physical left and right connections, and compare another source. Keep volume low while changing connectors.
