Subwoofer test: This subwoofer test provides controlled low-frequency tones for checking output, crossover handoff, obvious rattles, and channel routing without downloading an audio file.

How this subwoofer test works

Start at very low volume near 50 Hz. Move slowly through the subwoofer’s expected range, then toward the crossover point. Stop immediately if the driver makes mechanical noise or the amplifier clips.

How to read the results

Output should remain controlled through the supported range and blend near the crossover. Room modes can make one frequency boom and another vanish. The browser does not know acoustic sound pressure or driver excursion.

Common causes of failed tests

No subwoofer output can result from an inactive LFE path, crossover, standby threshold, receiver mode, wrong cable, phase cancellation, or source routing. Buzzing can be a ground loop; rattling may be furniture or driver damage.

Troubleshooting before you replace hardware

Confirm power and input, increase source volume only enough to wake auto-standby, check crossover and phase, reseat the cable, and compare a known source. Keep test levels conservative.
