This reports the page’s rendered frame rate under a browser workload. It cannot read a game’s FPS. The separate refresh-rate test estimates the display compositor cadence with minimal workload.

How this FPS test works
Keep the tab in the foreground, let the 400-particle sample stabilize, then compare 100, 1,000, and 2,500 particles. Reset between runs and close heavy background tasks if you want a cleaner browser comparison.
How to read the results
Current FPS is the last one-second window. Average FPS covers the current run. The 95th percentile frame time shows a slower end of the sampled frame distribution, where lower milliseconds are better. Results are capped by compositor and display cadence.
Common causes of failed tests
Frame rate can fall because of CPU or GPU load, power saving, thermal limits, browser throttling, extensions, background tabs, integrated graphics selection, remote desktop, or a display mode with a lower refresh ceiling.
Troubleshooting before you replace hardware
Connect power, disable battery saving temporarily, keep the tab visible, close demanding work, and compare another browser. Use the refresh-rate test to check display cadence; use in-game telemetry for actual game FPS.

Does this show my game FPS?
No. It measures this browser animation, not another application.
How is FPS different from refresh rate?
FPS is rendered frames per second; refresh rate is how often the display updates. They interact but are not the same measurement.
What does 95th percentile frame time mean?
It is a slower-end frame duration; lower and more stable values indicate smoother delivery.
