Sound test: This sound and speaker test generates local Web Audio tones for left, right, and both channels, plus an adjustable frequency and short sweep.

How this sound test works

Set system volume low. Play left, right, and both channels. Move the frequency control for a steady tone or run the three-second sweep. Stop immediately if a tone is uncomfortable.

How to read the results

The left and right controls should come from the expected side. A sweep should move smoothly without obvious rattles or dropouts, but room acoustics and human hearing make this a functional check rather than a frequency-response measurement.

Common causes of failed tests

Wrong channels or missing sound can involve cable routing, balance settings, Bluetooth profiles, mono audio, loose connectors, muted apps, damaged drivers, amplifier protection, or frequencies the speaker cannot reproduce.

Troubleshooting before you replace hardware

Lower volume, confirm the output device and balance, disable mono audio if stereo is intended, reconnect cables, compare headphones, and test another app. Do not use high volume to force a missing frequency.
