AW3225QF Verdict and Current Price
The AW3225QF makes sense at US$849.99 only when you can use its two expensive talents: 4K detail and refresh rates well above 120 Hz. At Dell Canada, the checked price was CA$1,199.99. Promotions move, so treat those as September 8 snapshots rather than sacred numbers carved into Alienware’s substantial plastic shell.
For a powerful gaming PC, the 240 Hz ceiling leaves more room than the upcoming 165 Hz model. For a PS5 or Xbox Series X, the case is weaker because current consoles top out at 4K 120 Hz. HDMI 2.1, VRR and console tone mapping still make the monitor a strong console partner, but half its refresh ceiling goes unused.

The Panel and Motion Case
The 31.6-inch panel combines 3840 x 2160 resolution, a native 240 Hz refresh rate and a 1700R curve. That works out to roughly 140 pixels per inch, enough for sharp games and clean text at a sensible viewing distance. Driving modern games near 240 frames per second at 4K is another matter. Competitive titles can get there with a fast GPU and reduced settings; heavy single-player games often cannot.
Dell advertises a 0.03 ms minimum gray-to-gray response time and says 0.1 ms was most commonly observed in its own analysis. Neither number is input lag. Input lag includes the rest of the display pipeline, and Dell does not publish a comparable end-to-end figure. RTINGS’ instrumented review describes lag as low at 240 Hz and 120 Hz, while flagging somewhat higher lag at 60 Hz.
QD-OLED uses blue OLED emitters with quantum-dot conversion for red and green. It delivers per-pixel black control and strong color volume, but ambient light can make blacks look raised or slightly purple. LG’s competing 32GS95UE uses WOLED, stays flat, adds a matte coating and can switch from 4K 240 Hz to 1920 x 1080 at 480 Hz. IPS cannot match OLED black levels or pixel response, but it remains the calmer choice for static office work, bright rooms and buyers who want no burn-in maintenance.

HDR, Bright Rooms and Burn-In
Dell’s launch material specifies VESA DisplayHDR True Black 400, Dolby Vision and peak luminance up to 1,000 nits. The 1,000-nit figure describes small HDR highlights, not a full white desktop. Independent testing finds that small highlights stand out while large bright areas dim, which is normal behavior for this OLED class.
Room lighting matters. QD-OLED gives you exceptional dark-room contrast, but the coating and panel structure do not defeat strong daylight or a lamp reflected in the screen. Burn-in is a real ownership risk whenever the same pixels show static interface elements for long periods. Dell includes three years of Advanced Exchange Service and Premium Panel Exchange with OLED burn-in coverage. That is unusually reassuring, but it is not permission to ignore the monitor’s care functions.
Dell’s OLED guidance says Pixel Refresh runs automatically after at least four cumulative hours of use and takes roughly six to eight minutes. Panel Refresh is the longer cycle associated with 1,500 accumulated hours. Let the automatic routines finish, use sleep mode, vary full-screen content and avoid leaving a bright static desktop up for no reason.
Ports and Desk Fit
The video inputs are one DisplayPort 1.4 connection with Display Stream Compression and two HDMI 2.1 FRL ports. One HDMI port includes eARC for a compatible soundbar or receiver. There are also three downstream USB-A ports, one downstream USB-C port and a USB-B upstream connection.
The USB-C port is the trap in the specification sheet. It is a downstream data and charging port, not a USB-C video input or one-cable laptop dock. There is no KVM switch and no built-in speaker system. If you regularly move one keyboard and mouse between a gaming desktop and work laptop, other 32-inch OLED monitors are better equipped.
The stand offers 110 mm of height adjustment, tilt from minus 5 to plus 21 degrees and 20 degrees of swivel in either direction. It does not pivot. With the stand, the monitor is 28.17 inches wide and 12.04 inches deep. Choose the LG 32GS95UE if you dislike curves or genuinely play esports at 1080p. LG documents the switchable 4K 240 Hz and Full HD 480 Hz modes, matte screen, height, tilt and pivot adjustment, and Pixel Sound audio.
Wait for the AW3226Q if 165 Hz is enough. Alienware has announced a flat 32-inch 4K RGB-stripe tandem WOLED panel, DisplayHDR True Black 400, Dolby Vision and global fall availability at about US$700. Also skip it if you cannot control bright reflections, dislike curved panels or need USB-C video and meaningful laptop power delivery.
